Forcella Salinchieit
Cyclo-mountaineering route in the territories of the municipality of Tramonti di Sotto, in particular Val Silisia and Valine. Ascent on asphalt along the Silisia stream, then dirt road with steep sections and finally trail 973 to the fork, descent on singletrack trail S3/S4 very exposed in the first part.
Starting from the parking lot near Lake Redona, climb along the Silisia Valley skirting Lake Selva, once you reach an altitude of 700 you take the Sentiero dei Forestali on the left, a stony cartroad with concrete sections that is particularly challenging because of the bottom and the slope. When you reach Casera Valine Alte, continue left along path 973, which is partially cyclable also thanks to its flat and only partly undulating profile until you reach Casera Salinchieit (1356 meters). To the right of the casera, trail 973 climbs for an immediately challenging section with bike on the back that through continuous ups and downs leads us to a small ledge with a splendid view of lakes (we are on the highest point of the trail at 1,525 meters). Another 500 linear meters and we arrive at Forcella Salinchieit with a magnificent view of Poffabbro and especially of the steep descent we will have to take.
The path that descends from the fork is CAI 973A, 3km long and with a constant average gradient of 31%; the first part, the one at the top, has slightly exposed passages with hairpin bends and rock jumps (S4) and is not very raidable for the first 400 meters of elevation gain. Then near the scree the difficulty lessens a little and from here on it will be all cyclable albeit with very steep gradients (S3+). Even in the woods the gradient does not show signs of decreasing but by now the path is no longer exposed and we soon reach a small wooden bridge over the Muie stream that introduces us to the paved road.
When you reach Poffabbro, continue left along the asphalt road for a couple of kilometers downhill toward Navorons and then climb back onto the regional road that takes us back to the lake parking lot.
