Paesi della sujaca, della cipolla e della nduja
Tour for mtb or gravel, starting and ending in Nicotera. It starts by crossing a flat country road through the contrada Puglisa. At the end of the flat stretch begins a terrible climb that reaches peaks of 30%, at the end of which there will be a short stretch of false-flat on asphalt. After about a kilometer we turn onto another small country road that allows us to avoid the cars traveling along the provincial road. We continue along a long tongue of asphalt that leads to Zaccanopoli (sujaca country), and continues to Parghelia, where I made a stop at Michelino beach.
You continue pedaling, reaching nearby Tropea (onion town), arriving at the waterfront .
.
You ride the tough uphill section that saw Bettini win the 2005 stage, and continue uphill through the village of Ciaramiti. Going slow and enjoying the view is a must here. You go through Brattirò, and through back roads you come to the church of Madonna della Fontana, in Spilinga (city of ndujia).
After crossing Spilinga, one continues along the sea road that leads to Nicotera.
The itinerary is special because it allows you to reach Tropea while avoiding busy roads (especially in summer) and to enjoy fantastic views, such as the one you can see coming down from Zaccanopoli to Parghelia or the one in Ciaramiti, where there are also binoculars to see the Aeolian Islands.
