Malga Campo
The route begins at the junction of S.S. 42 with provincial road No. 140 to Termenàgo-Ortisé-Menàs. The intersection is easily reached from the nearby villages of Mezzana or Pellizzano via the bicycle path until it crosses a detour leading toward the Noce River, which you cross (Pont de le Caore) to reach the intersection.
You then take provincial road no.140. It is a paved road, little used, that among vast, largely uncultivated meadow terraces, passes the villages of Termenàgo (you pass by the old bell tower from 1322 and then at the foot of the steps leading to the new church from 1850) and Castèllo (with its typical crenellated bell tower from 1500) on its way to Ortisé (1,477 m). Here a refreshment at the fountain located near the church is a must after the tiring stretch of road (note the delightful monument to the famous mycologist D. Giacomo Bresadola). The site affords spectacular views of the Val di Sole and the villages on the valley floor, Passo Tonale, the mountains of the distant Brenta Group and the imposing Presanella Group.
Following the signs for Alpe Pozze, the road passes the village becoming a dirt road and entering the larch forest alongside typical alpine buildings and then continues into the forest becoming more comfortable. Keeping to the left, in the direction of Baita Pozze, you exit into the wide pastures of the alpine pastures. Here the road, performing wide hairpin bends in the vastness of the pastures and the surrounding environment, arrives at Baita Pozze (shelter); after about 600 meters you come to a hairpin bend and on the left, a small road-sentiero (pay attention) gradually descends towards the ridge of cima Vegaia. The path, somewhat climbed for cattle passage, soon leads us to the Celentino pond (2,069 m), visible only in the early summer months. The view of the glaciers and the highest peaks of Vioz (3,645 m) and Presanella (3,556 m) is magnificent. Now the trail, skirting flatly along the small lake, takes us in the direction of Val di Peio to the recently renovated Malga Campo hut, home to a brand new agritur. We start again with steep forest road that descends to the village of Celentino (1,264 m). From here there is a unique view of Comasine and the lonely little church of S. Lucia. Follow the Provincial Road to Strombiano; enter the village and cross it; then follow the signs for Cusiano (home of Quirino Bezzi, historian and friend of the mountains) that lead, along the old dirt link road, to the junction between State Road No. 42 and the Val di Peio Provincial Road. Continue on the State Road to Cusiano and shortly return to Pellizzano (beautiful Gothic-Renaissance Church of S. Maria).
