Val di Rabbi
The route starts from Località Fonti di Rabbi at the small church. From here follow the dirt road that runs alongside the Rabbies stream, passing by the old restored Venetian sawmill. After about 500 meters, take the forest road uphill to Malga Polinar. The road climbs for 4 kilometers entirely in the forest until a junction with another forest road that leads downhill to Malga Stableti. Just below the malga you cross the locality Fontanon (picnic area) and from here take the forest road to Malga Cercen. The path is undulating and occasionally steepens with long steep sections until you reach Malga Cercen Bassa. From here to the right the road becomes flatter until you reach Malga Vilar (2,020 m) located on the slope just beyond the forest vegetation. Continue in the direction of Malga Fassa (2,057 m) through wide pastures and a steep gully along an easy path where you need to push the mtb for about 20 minutes. Just beyond the malga, which is also reached by a road from the valley floor, we move on the same elevation to Malga Monte Sole Alta (2,048 m), renowned for its milk processing and production of typical high mountain cheese. Following the road down to the valley floor, after two hairpin bends on the left of the signs for Malga Fratte Alta lead onto a path that crosses the beautiful fir and larch forest on a slight descent. The long abandoned malga (1,857 m) is situated in an exceptionally scenic location with a view of the Rabbi Valley and has construction features typical of times past. The trail descends zigzagging rapidly through the pastures and enters the forest and, with even considerable gradient (some technical sections present), leads shortly to the Malga Fratte Bassa (1,482 m), which, located on a dominant esplanade, offers an excellent opportunity to admire the valley, waterfalls, high pastures and often snow-capped peaks. Continue down to the bottom of the valley where another forest road takes you past the very characteristic Venetian sawmill and up, with the Rabbies stream on your left, until you reach the paved road that leads to the Fontanino to the Stablasolo hut and the Saent waterfalls. You take it to the right and after a kilometer to the left you take a small wooded road with some steep ups and downs that climbs skirting the high meadow areas of the valley (splendid views of Val di Rabbi), then quickly, through ancient settlements, you reach Fonti di Rabbi.
