Colli Euganei: Transeuganea (migliorata)
For the most part, the route follows the route of the Transeuganea Classic (famous race route in the Euganean Hills done in past years). We have made some changes to the original route to increase dirt at the expense of asphalt. The start of the ride is from Valsanzibio for our convenience, but you can start it from wherever you are closest. Although the bikeability is 100 percent, the route has some technical sections that are doable in the saddle by bikers who have a decent command of the bike. In the summer time some trails may be partially occluded by vegetation.
We started the ride with a classic, the uphill dirt road of the Seven Glads, good bottom with medium gradient. Arriving at the top, we continue to the right with a short stretch of asphalt, then trail and more asphalt until the Trattoria dalla Teresa. Now we go up single track on Mount Peraro to the antennas, from here begins a nice trail on the ridge of the mountain, then downhill on single track. The first part is without difficulty, while from mid-slope to Roverello Pass the trail has many tight switchbacks with changes in gradient, which tests the biker's skill.
Arriving at the Roverello pass, we climb on asphalt to Roccolo; from behind the restaurant at Roccolo, we take a single track downhill, some more asphalt downhill to Baiamonte, continue past the Settimo Cielo restaurant, and from here on dirt road through the white lands. A single track will take us down the valley, where we chose to head toward Villa di Teolo. Trails will take us near the nursing home (Parco dei Tigli) ,from here a light asphalt climb will take us to the uphill dirt track of Monte Grande with 3 km on a wide and compact bottom. Descending the summit (the highest point of the tour at 474 meters), we descend to the meadows of Passo delle Fiorine and still downhill we take the "Vietnam", the most famous single track of the Euganean Hills, very challenging, which will lead us to Teolo where you will find a fountain to refill water.
You take the Calti Pendice road, partly asphalt and partly trail downhill then uphill with fairly steep sections on generally very little traffic on a small road; continuing always uphill, on asphalt, you climb Mount Venda until you take on the left the 'ring north of Venda. This is followed by the descent of Cantinon, a nice flowing path immersed in the woods. Uphill you go around Mount Rusta, then continue on Mount Fasolo on up-and-down trail. Eventually we tackle the north loop of Mt. Ventolone on single track until we cross Mt. Piccolo, after which we descend to the valley and return to the parking lot where we started.
Counterclockwise direction. 16 km of asphalt on short stretches each no more than 2 km long, however very little traffic roads especially on weekdays; a few short stretches on concrete roads. 37 km between dirt roads and trails. 100% cyclability.
