San Martino easy
Itinerary in Valcuvia (VA). Departure from Cuveglio near the schools where there is ample parking, direction Vergobbio with a little asphalt and short off-road, in the village a section against the road we then took the old mule track to Arcumeggia, slopes exceeding 20% at times. With normal bike I recommend the road with little traffic.
we ride through and past the pretty village famous for its now ruined frescoes, until we reach the military road that leads to San Martino. Reaching the detour to Monte Colonna we take it, an almost completely pedalable path, short pushing sections; on the top spectacular views of Alps, plains, Milan, Apennines, various lakes. Visit to the tunnel of the ever-present Cadorna line and return along the uphill trail. We then reach the summit of San Martino by a nice variant, not very well traveled but 90% cyclable, from the road. From here descent grazing the shrine of the partisans who died in one of the first battles of the Resistance against the Nazi-Fascists. The section of trail leading to Alpe di Duno is poorly traveled and dirty but passable (only one tree to climb over). We take a very nice but also very dirty trail-muletrack that leads to the gates of Duno. Now short ascent on asphalt to take the path that connects us to the trails maintained by the Mufloni of Cassano Valcuvia, we ride La Laida and Madville, flow tracks with some passages a bit delicate (max S2?), these two tracks in excellent condition, clean ,very well maintained and marked. Before reaching the asphalt we took a little unpaved road with some brambles to disturb.
