Venere Trail
The ride starts in Monzuno, near the Town Hall. From here you pedal toward the small town square. When you arrive in front of Bar Posta, turn left and begin to climb among the small villas until you join the road that leads to Monte Venere. After a few hundred meters the view begins to open up over the Val di Setta, the peaks of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and, on clear days, as far as the Alps.
Reaching the junction for Trappola, turn right and ride along quiet asphalt until you cross Strada Freddolina. Here you turn left and climb to the top of Monte Venere thanks to a convenient gravel road. On the summit plateau you can see the characteristic Oratory and, if you wish, you can quickly reach the summit cross thanks to a short digression.
You then continue south on a dirt road that begins among fir trees and then opens up to a vast panorama before reaching the asphalt road again. We then reach a junction and take the small road that climbs to the left to theTelecom Antenna. Our route from here will trace, albeit with some variations, a section of the Via degli Dei. Thus frequent encounters with backpackers with whom to share the road. We descend on a first short single track with a few somewhat technical passages to then join a wide gravel road, which, however, we leave after a few hundred meters to take another path that climbs to Monte Poggio. This then descends on the same gravel road near a nice scenic spot.
We then descend on a fairly obvious track through the meadows until we intersect the dirt road coming from Monzuno. Turn left and continue south, passing through the characteristic hamlet of Le Croci and following the cartroad in the direction of Florence. After the hamlet, we will encounter on our left a peculiar observatory. From here we continue uphill, reaching the Monte Galletto Wind Park, and the characteristic Wind Organ. The road then continues downhill and arrives at the peculiar picnic area of Cà ed Paiarin.
Continue for another few hundred meters until you come to a crossroads near a bench. Turn left, arriving at the Cedrecchia locality thanks to a short single track, with loose stones and a few steps. Near the spring, you enter the wide cartroad that cuts across Monte Galletto on the coast and through a beautiful forest arrives at the locality Rioli. You turn right and thanks to a fun, and at times challenging (watch out for a couple of exposed points), path (CAI 925) you reach the road in the locality Nascè.
At this point you pedal northward for a few kilometers on pleasant asphalt with beautiful views of Loiano, Monghidoro and the Savena Valley. You pass Trasasso and continue to the bridge over the Rio Maore. Here a short detour upstream leads to the beautiful Cascatella waterfall.
You then continue downhill to a rest area, where theHarp, one of the many Land Art works that dot the BOM Art Trail, makes a fine display.
The trail continues to descend with a few somewhat challenging sections and then joins CAI 921. You face a small ford on the Rio Maore and two major uphill tears until you reach Cà Zardino. From here on a dirt road we regain the asphalt that allows us to reach Monzuno in a short time.
