ENDURO DI PONENTE 5^ TAPPA: SANREMO ED IL MONTE BIGNONE

We continue this long journey towards the west and as the fifth stage we arrive in Sanremo the city of flowers, of rallies but also of Mount Bignone that we will climb and bring back to the sea with a resounding descent.

Sanremo is the city of flowers and the festival, but also of rallies and descents as incaxxed as ever. First, however, we will have to climb Mount Bignone and we will do it partially on asphalt before reaching the olive grove area, precisely at Croce del Parà where one of the most beautiful but also hardest fire roads I have ever experienced begins. Pedalable yes but never giving up a single meter: be prepared. Having reached the junction with SP56 we will have the last few hairpin bends before arriving always all pedaled to the summit of Mount Bignone at 1,299 meters. Here we have to take a well-deserved break admiring the French Alps now very close but also the Italian Alps in the direction of Turin and Via del Sale. Now we turn back slightly into the undergrowth before starting the Bignone DH. What will it be like? It will be tough and really DH with rocky, steep sections and treacherous passages up to San Romolo. Now a secondary asphalt transfer before reaching the entrance to the Tubi di San Lorenzo trail. There is no messing around here anymore and in some places with sea views you will feel like you are at the Rampage. It will be quite a challenge and you will certainly come out on top even when the sound in your ears is pure Hard Rock. Steep final then Tubino and on asphalt we return to San Remo for a well-deserved Ligurian aperitif.
