Monte Cusna + DH Border Line
There are already several Cusna tours on Training Camp but this is our favorite; especially in the fall when the colors are truly incredible
Start from Febbio on asphalt to the junction for the Monteorsaro refuge; continue on a simple dirt road to the Sara Meadows. From here choose the most rideable track until you reach the obvious beginning of the "real" climb to the Cusna ridge. Up to the summit then push or shoulder for the musculars and a little extra pedaling for the ebikes.
Super view from the summit and equally super descent on the ridge back to Sara Meadows; all to be done in the saddle even if it is not trivial in places. From Prati di Sara you return for a few dozen meters on the uphill dirt road and then take a beautiful trail to the right through the woods that with a final traverse brings you back near the asphalt junction for Monteorsaro. A few meters of asphalt and then we veer right to the summit of Mt. Torricella. Here the choice is vast, all the trails are perfectly marked...thank you. We did the now justifiably famous Border Line (black diamond from Trailforks, so beware) that follows the entire ridge for 550 meters of elevation gain to the bridge over the Secchiello, on the paved road that goes up to Febbio .
Sigh... then back up on asphalt for about 300 meters of elevation gain to Febbio, but with a smile on your face. If you don't want to climb back up sweating ... contact Paul at Ride The Giant who offers shuttle ascents (but he also does custom courses, does trail maintenance, makes them up ... in short he does a lot of things and does them all very well)
