Spigolino Pratignano War Line

Starting from Madonna dei due Ponti we begin the long climb that will take us up to the Croce Arcana Pass. The climb, which is never too challenging, is paved up to Capanna Tassoni and then becomes unpaved and closed to car transit up to the pass. When we arrive we continue to Lake Scaffaiolo passing with a short bike ride from the summit of Mount Spigolino.

Reaching the lake we pause for only a few moments to continue downhill on a nice fun single track that with a last uphill section leads us to the Passo del Lupo going back to the ridge trail that descends from the summit of Spigolino. We continue downhill on the trail alternating between a few uphill stretches and a very short push section before the Serra dei Baichetti and then resume uninterrupted descent to Pratignano Lake. Arriving at the lake we make a small detour to visit the Fate hole, a small cave overlooking the valley and located at the end of a small ledge on the ridge of the mountain above the lake.

Having resumed the route we transit along the lake shore and continue downhill along Via Pratignana, abandoning it almost immediately in favor of a road on the right that intercepts trails 401/403. Arriving at the junction for Monte Capelbuso we continue following 403 until we find the sign indicating the descent of the War Line, a moto-fun trail of S2 difficulty. Once the descent is over we catch up with the road from Serrazzone to Madonna dei due ponti currently closed to traffic due to work on the bridge crossing the Ospitale stream.

Water can be found all along the climb from Madonna dei due Ponti to the Capanna Tassoni hut and after the latter along the forest road near a picnic area.
