Finale Ligure - Base Nato
Thanks to a natural predisposition for the practice of numerous outdoor activities, such as mountain biking and climbing for which it is internationally known, the Finale area is known and frequented by enthusiasts and sportsmen who recognize its uniqueness.
Favored by its Mediterranean climate, it is an area that can be experienced 365 days a year. Sea, hiking trails, trail running and mountain biking, caves and cliffs, here everyone can find the best way to express themselves through the practice of outdoor sports.
Having only two days at our disposal, we decided to hike the best and most popular trails in the areas Base Nato, day one, and Manie, the following day.
For convenience we left the car in Orco Feglino, the arrival point of the last trail.
If you don't like to ride, shuttles are available to take you to the beginnings of the trails; if, on the other hand, you like to toil, download our trail!
We covered 50km - time on the move: 5.10 hours - total elevation gain: 2200m - maximum elevation: 1000m - bikeability: 100% - suitable for MTB AM/ENDURO/DH.
The first climb tackled is the longest, the following starts at later points, but still of the same route; we retrace the same route 5 times.
It is a completely asphalt climb with even and low percentage gradients; it is not boring even if ridden for many times.
We covered five trails, in order:
1. H Trail: flow with roots. Very fast and fun
2. Mother Nature: mostly trail with low gradient and low difficulty.
3. Trail 115: flow with roots. Very fast and fun
4. Born Base: one of the most fun and fast trails in Born Base and all of Finale. Suitable for everyone! Well maintained banks and little rock presence.
5. Cravarezza + Engineer: this trail was prepared for the final of the EWS2015 championship, it was its Special Trial #5; The trail alternates very smooth parts with complicated and steep, sometimes slippery sections.
The Trails all start in the Nato Base area, with the exception of the H Trail which starts in a clearing a few hundred meters before.
Don't worry if you find bad weather or rivers of rain running through our trails, (as in our case) the rocks, of granite origin, have absurd grip even when completely wet.
