Miren climb, Ruska Jama, dosso Faiti, cimitero soldati russi
Departure from a city parking lot in Gorizia, Italy.
First climb (Miren Climb) steady and free of technical difficulties, takes us to the Slovenian Karst plateau. Various trails on Slovenian Karst amid coniferous forests, unfortunately destroyed in places by recent fire.
Ruska Jama: cave where the Austro-Hungarian army, during the Great War, housed Russian prisoners captured in Galicia and exploited them in front-line work (digging trenches, etc.).
Dosso Faiti: strenuous climb (stony single track) from where there is a beautiful view.
In Bukovica is the cemetery intended for the Russian fallen. Now there are only headstones; the bodies were moved to Russia between the two conflicts.
Climbing the various vines you will also arrive at a decent vantage point on the Martinjak.
