Gesero, Costa dei Larici
Starting from Bellinzona we reach Arbedo, here near the road (closed, or pay for cars) we climb up to the Gesero hut, the climb is steady, always under 10 % gradient, but it does not give a moment's respite, in the very last km it slopes up to 15%, a real butch for the legs. Around elevation 1710 we reach a hamlet of three houses, here we take a forest road on the right to the small lake of the Gesero Alp, and we are at about 1790 meters. We encounter World War I trenches from where a ridge trail starts, never really exposed, but care must be taken, if you fall you get hurt. We continue to the guide stone, a military post facing south, which is a terrace with panoramic views. Some bike carrying is needed here.
We carefully descend about 100 meters, even pushing the bike, then from here we come to Costa dei Larici, a beautiful forest trail to ride at breakneck speed. Then down again to Paudo, in a toboggan in the woods with a bottom of pine needles, beautiful. In Paudo we arrive late it is almost dark, so we go down the carriage road, we give up going down to Scarpapé for the trail, it will be for next time.
