Monte Spigolino e Cai 407
Departure from #fanano (MO). From the parking lot of the swimming pool take the downhill path that leads down to the two bridges to continue on the road that climbs to Ospitale and continues to the Capanna Tassoni hut. From the hut continue up the roadway to Croce Arcana on the Tuscan-Emilian ridge and take the scenic E1 ridge trail to the left, which you follow to the Calanca Pass.
When you reach the pass, with a sharp left turn you take the trail that, with steep ramps and a push section, climbs to the summit of Mount Spigolino. From the summit, take ridge trail No. 411 on a very steep descent, not without a few spots with hand bikes. The descent softens and continues until the short climb to the cinghio di Sermidano. From here begins in the woods the beautiful and fun descent flow to Passo del Lupo and continues, not without some technical stretches, to the serra dei Baichetti, on top of which you reach by push bike.
From the serra up to Pratignano Lake the descent is all flow, fast and fun except for a short relaunch after Passo della Riva. In Pratignana take trail 407, which you take on the left. The descent, after an initial flow section, becomes technical with tight switchbacks, roots stones and remains a succession of technical tratii, fords, stones and roots. It becomes flowing again near the abandoned hamlet of Caselle, after which it continues with a few raises to a driveway.
After a short descent on a driveway the trail veers left you face the Sassaia descent, fast, but with stones and an exposed spot. The trail ends at Due Ponti, where by asphalt or the trail made at the start you return to Fanano.
