Fanano - Cima Tauffi

The hike starts from #fanano to ascend by asphalt up the Fellicarolo valley to the Taburri refuge. Past the refuge, take the Cai 445 trail on the left that climbs up to the Colombino Pass. On the long climb from Fanano there is no shortage of water sources. From the Colombino pass, go up the Cai 425 trail on the right to the summit of Cima Tauffi where you cross the former Cai 00 now E1 ridge trail. Continue on this path in an easterly direction going up and down the entire ridge with ascents and descents until you pass the Acqua Marcia Pass.

At the bottom of the descent from the col, you will find the marker for the entrance, on the left, of the Cai 417 trail and its beautiful descent. The route that departs from the ridge trail consists of three sections. The first one first crosses the meadows remaining on the ridge then enters the forest with some technical stretches and some short, but hard, relaunches and ends on the forest path that from Capanna Tassoni goes up towards Passo del Colombino.

Crossing the forest road, the Cai 417 trail continues into the woods with a very fun and challenging descent mainly due to the presence of loose stones hidden by foliage. When you reach the end of Cai 417 you take a very short single track to the left that leads to a forestry road and after about 150 meters you have to turn abruptly to the right taking Cai 421 that ends in Ospitale.

From the village you descend to the small group of houses below from which the Sentiero dei Giganti (Trail of the Giants) starts on the left, so called because it crosses an area of huge, centuries-old chestnut trees. The path, which is very beautiful, runs all along the coast with steep and narrow descents and steep raises, technical sections and fords. It ends on a roadway marked as Cai 411 from which, after about 500 meters on the right, the path called Orma del Bue departs, that is, the last section of Cai 411-425 that reaches the bridge over the Fellicarolo, also called Madonna del Ponte.

The descent has a rather smooth first part and becomes increasingly rocky and technical, in the last part of which you face a series of narrow hairpin bends until the bridge. The trail then continues along the coast until it reaches Fanano.
