Supertraversata della Valcolla
A record-breaking route: 26 km of endless singletrack, with stunning views and a very long descent.
We start in Tesserete and cross the Cassarate valley descending the most technical trail of the day, followed by a 5-minute bike push.
From here begins the long climb that will take us by the Pairolo Hut. First on asphalt to Madonna d'Arla and up to the dairy where the dirt road begins and will end at the phallic fountain, from which you can see the Hut just below. The phallic water is good and fresh, no fear.
From here the 26 km of trail begins, so refresh yourself because soon after begins one of the steepest sections, recently fixed with leg-saving switchbacks, to a short section of forestry that takes us below the Foiorina.
We are now above the forest and can begin to appreciate the view that reaches as far as Monte Rosa, on a clear day.
The trail now becomes fun, with continuous ups and downs, and takes us into Italy, above the Cavargna valley. We can also see Lake Como during the fun descent before the short section that takes us to the San Lucio Pass with its typical little church and two refuges, almost always open.
From San Lucio begins the famous traverse to Piandanazzo: miles and miles of almost completely rideable trail with countless (and strenuous) up and downs in lonely surroundings.
From Piandanazzo (fountain) you climb to the Cima di Moncucco, still on trail, and then descend on a beautiful path to Matro.
From here another traverse begins, with a poisonous ramp immediately after a farmstead. Having done this, and the short following one, the very long descent to Tesserete begins.
First rocky all the way to Davrosio, then always rocky all the way to the woods, where the bottom becomes softer and only 2 small ramps interrupt our flow to get to the road just above Tesserete, which will take us back to our starting point
