Bocca dei Fortini
Beautiful route that starts in Riva del #garda and climbs the western shore of Lake Garda. We take the super scenic Ponale road, then choose the detour that leads to the Ledro valley. Thus begins the bike path of the same name that takes us to Ledro with a final tear.
From Ledro begins the "little Stelvio," that is, the climb to Bocca dei Fortini. Steep, often cemented, it springs only in a point or two. On the other hand, you reach the drop-off point rather quickly. From here we go left toward Passo Rocchetta, passing by Baita Segala where we find bottled water, leaving an obol to the Alpini group that brings it up.
We continue on the wide path with beautiful views of Garda and the Singol Valley and reach with a last little tear the Rocchetta Pass.
From here the real descent begins, first on the 422 that they have just rearranged (watch out for traffic from those pedaling up) and then on the "tough" 422 with tight turns over roots and rocky passages.
We thus arrive at Pregasina, where we follow the paved road to reach Ponale. A few cuts allow us to avoid the road, which in any case is beautiful in itself since it is closed to cars and overlooks the lake.
The final treat is the Trout trail (the name comes from the restaurant at the end of the trail): technical, rocky, and with the steep final piece that requires good brakes.
We thus come out on the Gardesana Occidentale, which we follow to Riva passing through two well-lit tunnels.
