Monte Kovk
Cyclo-mountaineering route with ascent on asphalt until beyond the turn to Col, cart track and final push trail to the summit, traverse on ridge not totally cyclable, descent on medium technical trail.
Start at Ajdovscina (park bike pump track) and climb on asphalt to the village of Col, turn left and continue uphill past the village of Makobeti, into a valley with soft slopes between pastures, steady gradient and never excessive. Shortly thereafter you leave the main asphalt on a right turn and continue left on asphalt until you reach a dwelling where the asphalt ends and you turn right onto cart track that climbs first through pastures and then into the woods to cross a ridge trail, which you briefly push up on the left to the summit of Mt. Kovk, a very scenic 360° viewpoint despite the modest altitude.
Descend on the same trail with the overhang to the left, a very adrenaline-pumping sensation, which shortly after becomes a long up and down with a mixed terra meadow-rock surface with scenic stretches and others among the trees, until it crosses a trail at Podrta Gora on the left towards Kapelica-Zig, medium-difficult in the forest and with variable surface, more rocky and compact earth in the first part, then tight switchbacks, then slippery earth and more steep (Zgriza Trail), then coming out on narrow cart track, to be abandoned at the first trail on the left (Musej / 3Rajda Trails) that descends more smoothly to cross the outward asphalt and continue on blatantly MTB inspired Ajdovscina pump track, which comes out in a clearing and between banks and small bumps descends almost to the village of Kozmani, from which the loop closes on secondary asphalt.
