Salmezza Trail
We are in Nembro, in the province of Bergamo, and we are going to ride one of the most famous climbs in the Bergamo area: the Nembro-Selvino.
Having parked the car in Nembro, we head into the town center, where the completely paved climb that will accompany us all the way to Selvino begins; the famous Nembro-Selvino. This is the main climb of the Gran Fondo Felice Gimondi and has ideal characteristics for a passer-by.It is 10 km with an average gradient of just under 6% with a maximum peak at 7%, the climb is composed of 12 hairpin bends.Once in Selvino, a final effort is required to reach Salmezza; the road is completely paved, but in this section the gradient starts to get tough; hold on, it is only one kilometer.Once you reach the top, the first part of the trail begins.
This is a rideable trail without too much difficulty except for a few technical sections scattered throughout the trail that require good skills to avoid having to get off the bike. It is an earthy trail mixed with stones, but still not too split; if you will ride it on holidays you should pay attention to the large number of people you will find on the trail, we recommend, in fact, that you try it during the week to avoid a continuous stopping and pulling over to let people pass.
Once you get to Lonno you are spoiled for choice to reach the bottom of the valley: from the easiest trail, mixed mule track, to something slightly more technical. We opted for a middle ground, initially riding a mule track until we reach a detour, where 100 meters further on the single track begins.A very smooth and fast trail, on beaten earth and within everyone's reach; unlike the first section this one does not involve high technical skills. Arriving at the bottom of the valley we ride through the village of Nembro until we reach our starting point.
Time on the move: 1.50 hours - maximum altitude: 1100m - cyclability: 98% - suitable for MTB AM/ENDURO.
