Alpe La Ciarma - Valle del Lys
This is a good ride from spring to fall, with a long, medium climb (average gradient 10%), in a location close to Piedmont. The Gressoney Valley is one of the most recessed in the Aosta Valley, offers climbs with little exposure to the sun, and allows low-altitude starts even in summer, without overheating. The climb starts from Remondin (mt. 606) and, on asphalt, proceed for about 3.9 km to turn left in the direction of the Le Sapin farmhouse.
Continue through the woods and on asphalt until km 7.9, turn right and, after another 200 meters, the dirt road begins. Still in a shady environment, continue passing under Mount Parassone (mt. 1809), crossing Alpe Serrapiana and, finally, at km 12.7 the dirt road ends at Alpe La Ciarma (mt. 1830). Ahead is the summit of Bec di Nona (mt. 1927), watershed between the Aosta Valley and Piedmont sides. You return to Remondin following the route of the ascent.
