Anello del Monte Joanez

Trail on bumpy dirt roads up and down and some trails not particularly challenging except for wet bottom. Wonderful views over the Friulian plain, views as far as the sea.

Start from the parking lot in the square in Torreano di Cividale, go downhill on asphalt until you veer left onto Via del Mulino and continue on dirt road to the bridge, then left and up to the first left, bumpy and rocky, such as to put a strain on traction. Continue straight ahead taking the main dirt road that climbs to the end of the MegaT trail, following the celestial path. At km 10 you meet the asphalt road, which you follow to the left, leaving Mount Cragruenza to the right, until you reach the village of Tamoris, where you turn right twice back onto the dirt road.

In ups and downs you pass other peaks and climb Mount Joanaz, great panorama to the sea. You descend again on the same dirt road for about 1 km and turn left on well-marked, clean CAI trail to the summit of Mt. Caludranza, where you take trail T1 for a short distance, then dirt road to Torreano. The T1 trail would continue to the right just before a junction, but as of today is not passable due to numerous crashes and trail failures.

Asphalt 40% - dirt 60%, medium challenging.
