Pic Chiadin e Monte Floriz

Cyclo-mountaineering route with ascent on asphalt, concrete and compact dirt road to Rifugio Marinelli, push and shoulder climb to Pic Chiadin, descent on grassy and rocky trail to the refuge, push ascent to Monte Floriz, spectacular descent on trails to Casera Plumbs and subsequent trail and cart track in the woods.

Start at the Edelweiss wooden hut just after the village of Collina. Proceed on asphalt road to the Tolazzi hut, beyond which the road becomes a cart track that climbs with significant but never too challenging slopes. The bottom remains always very compact; once you reach casera Morareet the view suddenly opens up to Piano dei Buoi, glimpsing on the bottom the flags of rifugio Marinelli, which is reached in less than two hours from the start. You take pushing and carrying the bike on the first path to the left in the direction of Monte Coglians and a hundred meters further on the uphill path to the right, without indications, which is steeper but short and leads to a grassy plain from which you set off again toward the green summit of Pic Chiadin that you reach by pushing for a few minutes.

From the summit you can admire Mount Coglians on one side and the valley from which we climbed on the other. The descent is for the first few meters from the starting trail, then you continue slightly to the left, less steep track than on the ascent, on grass in rough and rather technical track. You come out next to the Marinelli Hut and immediately ascend opposite, with a few pedaled sections, trail 174 that leads first to an anticima and after a short but spectacular descent on the ridge to Cima Floriz, the highest point of the route at m. 2,184. From here begins a marvelous and panoramic technical descent with some exposed sections on the ridge towards the Forcella Plumbs: the view sweeps from the Coglians group to Jof Fuart on one side and from Volaia to Peralba on the other.

When you reach the fork, proceed right and immediately left toward the Plumbs casera along the sent. 150 that turns into a service road; between the first and second hairpin bends at an altitude of 1,660 m., be careful to take the sent. 150 again on the right, which appears to be hidden. The trail plunges into the woods with pleasant inclines and never technically difficult (S1). You first cross the service road to pick it up again later when it leads back to the starting point.
