Masua, mare, montagne e miniere da Fontanamare

Route for experienced and well-trained hikers, the accumulated elevation gain is significant but well distributed, avoid hot summer days and excessively windy winter days.

You start from Fontanamare beach, going up the provincial road you turn to a secondary road that then becomes cemented and you head towards Bindua and then cross the Monteponi mine; here you will have to overcome some fences, if you prefer you can bypass this section and head directly towards Mount San Pietro; the route to conquer the highest peak in this area is not easy with some rather steep ramps but always rideable.

From here you descend along the Cuccu Aspu channel, then climb back up and then descend into the parallel channel, proceeding along the provincial road you reach Masua and the scenery becomes spectacular, with views of the Pan di Zucchero stacks.

You descend to the sea along a splendid path to Porto Corallo, this is quite challenging and the rocks are very sharp! You climb back up along a paved road and head toward Nebida.

In order to take the spectacular trail that will take us to the laveria, you will have to go over the guard-rail at the bend after the sports field, this trail is also challenging and very exposed, proceed with caution! You will go up the small road probably on foot and back to the provincial road you will head towards Fontanamare.
