Monte Ombladet

Cycle-mountaineering tour with ascent from Sigiletto to Casera Monte dei Buoi, then ascent with bike on shoulder to Cima Ombladet (m. 2,250), descent and traverse to Forcella Ombladet, resounding descent on CAI141 towards C.ra Ombladet and return along CAI140.

Start from the departure of the church square in Forni Avoltri climbing on asphalt towards Frassenetto and Sigiletto, past the latter turn left climbing on cartroad marked as cai 169. The climb is particularly challenging with the presence of two cemented ramps above 20%, with some intermediate breaths; after less than 5 km we arrive at Casera Monte dei Buoi (m 1,723) where a well-deserved break awaits us before tackling the 500-meter climb to the summit.

After the first few rideable meters the trail becomes steeper and between pushing and carrying we reach in about 40 minutes first the saddle and then the summit in an extraordinary environment with spectacular views. You descend from the summit on your bike and continue left along 169 to the saddle where the Strado dei soldats trail tears right; we continue straight on, descending a little more, the trail becomes shaky and particularly exposed in landslide sections; there is still a small climb of about 70 meters of elevation gain, short but tiring, then the descent to Forcella Ombladet.

From here take path cai 141 to the left, which descends in a technical manner (S2) with the presence of challenging hairpin bends, but in general very smooth. Past casera Ombladet above and below you reach the forest road that climbs to Bordaglia. Some paths cut the small road until you reach the Bordaglia Gorge nature trail where you descend on scree. Go up the forest road with cai 140 signpost that takes us to Forni Avoltri.
