Uçka - Vojak

Route with 19km of comfortable asphalt ascent to the summit of Vojak and two very challenging downhill trails on rocky ground interspersed with a section of dirt road.

Start from the sea and climb immediately in the direction of Uçka Park, on wide asphalt of medium gradient and quite busy, a detour at Sveti Petar on secondary asphalt to avoid the main one that you pick up again a little further on, to the Poklon parking lot, where you take the dirt road to the left a little steeper into the woods for another cut. You resume the main asphalt and reach the summit of Mount Vojak, with astronomical observatory and red-white antenna visible all the way from the coast. Spectacular views toward the sea with Cres and Krk and on the other side facing the fascinating Istrian hinterland.

Beyond a stone tower you carry your bike by hand (no sign) on a difficult ridge trail to the drop-off, from which you can attempt to saddle up for the descent. Very high technical difficulty with rocky path with loose stones in the meadow, steps and deep sod. Short but intense, it leads to a saddle where you take the coast path to the right on the flat and then up and down, not quite rideable and with a final challenging part downhill to Mala Ucka, where you take an up and down dirt road that you follow for about 4km to a path to the right with a sign for Lovran.

Deep in the forest, it has treacherous rocky bottom with some moving rocks on which you need to run the bike to avoid planting, some changes of direction never too tight. Concentration must be maintained for 4km to come out on the asphalt. From here you follow the direction of the sea descending hundreds of steps, stone and very worn at the top and increasingly regular and rearranged as you descend. In a short time you reach the sea and the last stretch is on asphalt with the water in sight, since the spectacular pedestrian walkway by the sea is not cyclable.
