Strade bianche (Nicotera - Soriano)
Itinerary for bdc or gravel, departing from Nicotera and heading to Soriano Calabro. The route is on provincial roads, but the title of the ride suggests the actual road conditions. It starts downhill, heading toward the marina and then toward Rosarno. It will skirt the Mesima River for many kilometers. The road will be gently sloping, but without tears. The asphalt on which you will be moving is very old asphalt, so it will be a constant vibration, and you will have to watch for the presence on the road of both potholes (many) and mud or gravel. When you arrive in Soriano, you will start again and take another route.
While the outward route was all slightly uphill, with a more challenging section in the final part, the return route will be a continuous up and down, and will go through several villages. The asphalt conditions should be better, but do not expect a highway. Some very fast downhill sections will be encountered. Once past the town of Laureana di Borrello, there will be a descent that rejoins the outward route. Then we will retrace a stretch of road already seen on the outward journey, and then detour to Limbadi. Again, the road will be very bad in some sections.
