Da Treviso alle sorgenti del Sile
Starting at the green lake of Casier, we ride along the Sile on the beautiful bike path to Treviso. The stretch to the city is really beautiful, shady and very cool! We pass beautiful Treviso, which we will visit more leisurely on the way back.
We now enter the former Ostiglia-Treviso railway, a very long and completely straight bike path, ideal for hot days because it is all shaded. Past the Zero River, we detour for a visit to the 16th-century Villa Marcello with its beautiful park. Then on secondary roads we arrive at the Fontanassi forest, with beautiful shady paths,
the Sile here is already tiny, in fact shortly after Pierpaolo tells us that we have arrived at the springs.
The river in fact gushes out of the earth making the water bubble, a very interesting phenomenon. After a sandwich in the cool of the woods, we arrive at villa Corner della Regina, converted into a hotel, where a stop for a cold beer, also considering the very hot day, is a must. We head back toward Treviso passing by the beautiful square of Badoere (studied more than 30 years ago for my thesis in architecture!), retrace the former railroad bike path again and stop in beautiful Treviso.
Indeed very beautiful I must say, and of course our perfect guide makes us taste tiramisu at the very place where it was invented, the Beccherie café. We ride back to Casier on the beautiful bike path, with one last detour over the Restera bridge to see the cemetery of the Burci, the giant barges used until the early 1970s to transport goods to the sea.
We arrive at the base happy for this ride; the mountains are beautiful, but the plains can also give us wonderful emotions! Going along the Sile from the opposite side, we can arrive instead to Portegrandi and then to Jesolo, here the track. Thanks to Pierpaolo Bridda who organizes these and other biketours in collaboration with Venice bike tour, also with fat bike rental
