Lucca 4 Venti
Medium-difficulty route with some challenging and technical sections both uphill and downhill. Dirt roads and trails about 30 km, asphalt about 9 km.
Departure and arrival from parking area palasport north of Lucca. Transfers along the Nottolini monumental aqueduct on the outward journey and River Park on the return.
The ride begins by heading toward the city walls of Lucca. We go through the underpass and climb the same. We ride clockwise along the walls and continue to the dirt road that flanks the Nottolini monumental aqueduct. We continue on asphalt toward Coselli and then on dirt and asphalt toward San Lorenzo a Vaccoli - Santa Maria del Giudice. From here begins the steep climb to the Dante Pass.
?From the pass (with beautiful panoramic views of the Pisa plain) we descend along a technical path almost to the entrance of the San Giuliano tunnel. We turn right uphill and cross a barrier. The climb (initially cemented) is quite steep. It continues on cobbled and bumpy dirt road. For a stretch of about 200m you are forced to descend because of the difficulty of the surface. It continues uphill with panoramic views towards the sea. More climbing and short descents and we find ourselves in the locality 4 Venti. We continue along a technical descent and a short paved section of the road leading to Molina di Quosa. At the bend of the war memorial we turn right and descend along the dirt road for about 1 km until we arrive at the ruins of the former convent of Rupe Cava.
