Coccorinello
MTB route with departure from Nicotera. Departure is from the stadium of Nicotera, in the direction of Joppolo. To start, downhill heating on dirt road, with very scenic stretches, where you have to be careful because it is easy to meet agricultural vehicles in the opposite direction. You will pass under a railroad bridge, shortly after you will have arrived at the Parnassus Tower. From here, last downhill stretch, from which you will feel as if you are falling into the sea. You have arrived at the waterfront of Joppolo. The ascent to Monte Poro begins. Apart from a small off-road section, the ascent will always be steady and without tears. At one of the last hairpin bends, you will see a path on the left (it is also marked), turn left and follow the path. You will pass inside a small pine forest, where there is also a wooden house. You will continue until you descend to Coccorinello.
When you reach Coccorino, you will go up towards Monte Poro, following an old provincial road, now out of use due to bad weather. The road was originally on asphalt, but in 2018 with the rain a channel formed in the middle. It is cmq a scenic road, pleasant to ride, especially in summer. Arrived at the fountain, refuel and restart. We descend to the Puglisa, an area of countryside from Limbadi and Nicotera. Past Puglisa, you tick into Mandaradoni, and continue downhill by a side road that leads to Caroni. From here, you continue down from Gagliardi Hill and climb up from the village of Nicotera.
This is a very scenic route, doable by those who may be on vacation in the Coast of the Gods and want to spend an afternoon on mtb. Along the way s will encounter several fountains. In addition, the roads traveled are almost all secondary roads.
