Gioja's
Route for mtb, starting from Nicotera. For lovers of steps, you start downhill passing through the alleys of the ancient village of Nicotera and Giudecca, all of which lead to Porta Palmentieri. The descent ends when you reach the entrance to Nicotera Marina. You proceed to the promenade and go to the pine forest and walk almost all the way through it. Shortly afterwards you have to turn to exit out of the pine forest. You will have to pedal 100m or so on sand and then, when you get to the concrete block, dismount and take the bike over your shoulder to pass it. Continue on dirt road until you cross the SP. At this point you will ride another stretch on dirt road that pops up next to the Mesima River. Now there is a lot of asphalt ahead. You pass through the town of San Ferdinando, and as soon as you pass it you have to turn left, where a dirt road awaits us, with very treacherous sandy sections, and what should not be underestimated, a few large dogs, even dobermans!
Having finished the dirt road, you have popped up in the industrial area of Rosarno. From here, you pedal keeping as a reference point the port of Gioia Tauro, which you will begin to glimpse. Then you will ride a stretch of dirt road that passes right next to the port, until you pop up at the IAM, the Gioia Tauro maxidepuratore. From here we will take a side road back to Rosarno. Taking the return route, we will cross a stretch of dirt road that precedes Rosarno and ends in the industrial area. From here we retrace the outward route back to Nicotera from the SP, but you can just as well go back up from the village.
This is a very fast route that is on fun, flat dirt roads, so it is suitable even for untrained people. Unfortunately, no fountains will be encountered.
